In reality however the most important factor is the overall efficiency of the filtration system, not only its HEPA filter.
While certified HEPA filters are up 99.97% efficient on 0.3µm particles, a poorly designed system will allow air
to bypass the filters and lower the unit’s efficiency considerably.
(There is also a huge number of low-quality products brandishing the word “HEPA”, and marketed to be “HEPA-type”, “HEPA-like”, “HEPA-style” or “99% HEPA” that do not meet the requirements of the HEPA standard)
