For most people, indoor air quality was never a key preoccupation, and certainly not very high on their list of priorities. Given the devastating toll the COVID19 pandemic has taken on our lives and its effect on the global economy, we are forced to pay much closer attention to the very air we breathe.
Recently, the marketplace was suddenly flooded with a vast array of products; all boasting unprecedented efficiency and “revolutionary” filtration systems.
Rather than being designed by engineers, these so-called “solutions” are products of marketing boardrooms. Thin, sleek looking, quiet and loaded with features – all for an incredibly low price… What is not to like?!?
In reality however the most important factor is the overall efficiency of the filtration system, not only its HEPA filter.
While certified HEPA filters are up 99.97% efficient on 0.3µm particles, a poorly designed system will allow air to bypass the filters and lower the unit’s efficiency considerably.
